We had an incredible time with Zehra. She took us all over Cappadocia, but more than that, she truly did her best to make sure we had a fun time. My daughter is very interested in this DIY stuff. So, Zehra arranged for us to stay a little longer at the pottery and rug shops. Plus, she told some scarier stories for my kids when we were in the underground city. Very approachable, very friendly - even my teenagers liked her! It was also so easy to adjust the itinerary with her. She even made some of her own suggestions based on what she thought we’d like. Would definitely recommend her!
In my opinion, way better than a standard tour. It’s very nice to not be around other travellers, but just spend quality time with your family and friends. I felt like I could ‘let loose’ a little bit more. And honestly, on a full-day tour like this, that’s an important factor! You want to be comfortable. Our guide was also very good. I liked that he truly talked with us, in the sense of, yes, he’d answer all of our questions. But he’d also think of little tidbits he thought we’d like all on his own. Really tuned-in to us. Great experience overall.

EXPLORE TWO CITIES: ONE ABOVE THE GROUND AND ONE BENEATH
Once we pick you up, we’ll drive to Göreme - the heart of Cappadocia. This city is at the crossroads of the region’s valleys, and boasts spectacular views. Your guide will point out tall rock spires (fairy chimneys), houses built in the rock, steep ridges... You’ll even spot Uçhisar Castle! Then we’ll drive you to Özkonak Underground City. This city also has spectacular views, but below the ground! It was built as protection from attackers and has eight underground levels. Roam the narrow halls, and learn about its smart ventilation and communication holes. Then ascend back to ground level, and breathe in fresh air as you enjoy a traditional Turkish lunch.
VISIT CAPPADOCIA’S MOST ICONIC AREAS
After lunch, we’ll continue to Pigeon Valley. You’ll immediately see dovecotes carved out in the rock; thousands of them! The birds were used for fertilizer and food, so the Turks built houses for them. Your guide will then take you to the Göreme Open-Air Museum. This is a complex where medieval and Byzantine churches are carved into the rock itself! As your guide will explain, monastic life devoted to prayer was the standard in the 4th century. After this, you’ll explore the old Greek village of Çavuşin. Visit a pottery workshop, where you’ll see a traditional pottery making demonstration. There’ll also be shopping at a beautiful rug workshop.
DISCOVER NATURAL WONDERS IN TWO VALLEYS
The Cappadocia Private Tour ends with Paşabağı (or Monks Valley) and Devrent Valley. Monks Valley is home to mushroom-shaped rocks, a type of fairy chimney with a thick trunk and mushroom ‘hat’. These structures were caused by erosion from rain and wind on the soft tuff rock over thousands of years. Finally, your guide will show you one last natural wonder: Devrent Valley. There you’ll see red rock formations that resemble animals! Your guide will point out a camel near the road, a dolphin, a tortoise... There’s even a rock formation resembling Mary holding the baby Jesus! After drinking in all the fantastic sights, we’ll drop you back off at your hotel.
